چکیده

Bu çalışmada, rotifer Brachionus plicatilis kültüründe 2 formüle emülsiyon (Emülsiyon-I ve Emülsiyon-II) 3 farklı ticari ürün (Olio w-3, Red Pepper (n-3) Top Rich) kullanımının popülasyon artışı üzerine etkisi araştırılmıştır. Rotiferler için oluşturulan deneme grupları sırasıyla; DHA-Gold (Kontrol), + Emülsiyon-I (1. Grup), Emülsiyon-II (2. Olio w-3 (3. (4. Rich (5. Grup) olarak belirlenmiştir. Farklı besleme rejimine göre rotiferlerin populasyon artışının belirlenmesi 1 L kültür hacminde yığın kültür, başlangıç yoğunluğu 100 birey/ml olacak şekilde 7 gün süre ile gerçekleştirilmiş günlük birey sayımları yapılmıştır. Deneme sonunda rotiferlerde en yüksek sayısı, büyüme hızı fekondite oranı zenginleştirilen grupta sırasıyla 1250 ± 11,54 birey/ml, 0,37 0,00 bölünme/gün 0,38 0,01 yumurta/birey tespit edilmiş olup, söz konusu değerler kontrol grubundan istatistiksel önemli derecede farlı bulunmuştur (P<0.05). Emülsiyon ilavesinin rotiferin popülayon artışı, oranını olumlu yönde etkilediği

Analysis of Expressed Sequence Tags of the Cyclically Parthenogenetic Rotifer Brachionus plicatilis

BACKGROUND Rotifers are among the most common non-arthropod animals and are the most experimentally tractable members of the basal assemblage of metazoan phyla known as Gnathifera. The monogonont rotifer Brachionus plicatilis is a developing model system for ecotoxicology, aquatic ecology, cryptic speciation, and the evolution of sex, and is an important food source for finfish aquaculture. How...

Mass culture of the rotifer Brachionus plicatilis and its evaluation as a food for larval anchovies

Growth rates of anchovy larvae, Engraulis mordax, reared for 19 days under constant environmental conditions on a diet of laboratory-cultured organisms, exceeded the growth rates of anchovies fed on a diet of wild plankton. The rotifer Brachionus plicatilis was found to be a nutritious food source when fed to the larvae in concentrations of 10 to 20/ml and in combination with the dinoflagellate...

Production of the rotifer Brachionus plicatilis (Ploimida: Brachionidae) in a Brazilian coastal lagoon.

Secondary production, density and biomass fluctuations, and some reproductive aspects of the rotifer Brachionus plicatilis were studied weekly for two years in a Brazilian coastal lagoon. Food (and secondarily temperature) seemed to be the main factor involved in the summer increments. In the first summer, a mass mortality of fish caused changes in the phytoplankton, which switched from the dom...

Use of a potential probiotic Lactococcus lactis AR21 strain for the enhancement of growth in the rotifer Brachionus plicatilis (Müller)

The effect of a potential probiotic on the growth performance of a rotifer and its inhibition against Vibrio anguillarum was studied. Probiotic strain AR21 had no significant observable effect on the growth rate of rotifers under optimal culture conditions in three consecutive experiments. In the first and second experiments, the AR21 strain exhibited an inhibitory effect against the V. anguill...

Effect of juvenile hormone and serotonin (5-HT) on mixis induction of the rotifer Brachionus plicatilis Muller.

Juvenile hormone (JH) and serotonin (5-HT) were previously shown to enhance mictic (sexual) female production of the rotifer Brachionus plicatilis in batch cultures. To explore the basis of these effects, experiments were conducted on isolated individuals. JH treatment of maternal rotifers with 5 and 50 µgml(-1) (18.8 and 187.7 µM) resulted in significantly higher (P<0.05) mictic female product...
